Description

A plug valve is a rapid-opening and closing valve mechanism. Its design ensures complete isolation from the flowing medium when fully open, making it particularly suitable for use with media containing suspended particles.

Another notable feature is its adaptability to multi-channel structures, allowing a single valve to facilitate two, three, or even four different flow channels. This versatility simplifies pipeline system designs, reduces the need for multiple valves, and minimizes the requirement for additional equipment accessories.

Principle

Valve plugs can have either cylindrical or conical shapes. Cylindrical plugs typically feature rectangular channels, while conical plugs have trapezoidal channels. These configurations contribute to the lightweight structure of plug valves, making them ideal for applications requiring cutoff, connection, diversion, and, depending on application properties and sealing surface erosion resistance, throttling.

Types

Structurally, plug valves can be categorized into four types: tight-seal plug valves, self-sealing plug valves, plug valves, and oil injection plug valves.

By channel configuration, they can be divided into three types: straight-through plug valves, three-way plug valves, and four-way plug valves.
